Tomorrow Holds Such Better Days

Pretty good song and a good story, I don’t really agree with the whole comparison of Firefighters to Jesus though.  It is an honorable career and takes a different breed of person to do it but still someone has to.  Everyone has something they were meant to do.  I remember when I was a Cadet I was talking to my Engineer after we just got off a real bad accident and we were reloading some hose at the station.  Pretty gorey call (bad accident, car caught and driver wasn’t able to get out, and was still alive when the fire started).  I was just thinking about it the whole time and just asked him.

“sir why did you chose to become a firefighter? none of this bugs you?”

He stopped and just stared at me for a few seconds just thinking to himself.

“Honestly Espinoza of course it does, I lose lots of sleep over these calls.  You are going to too I guarantee (he was right, still hear that guys screams in my dreams) but for me I find what I do is comforting.  Its nice to be there for someone in their darkest hour, I feel like I am instrument of God to help ease peoples pain.  I have never regretted choosing this career.  It has made me a better husband, father, and has taught me to live my life the best I can”.

That conversation is what made me decide that Im going into the Fire Service as a career.
